"I realized," he states, "the
barren
Lunar or Mars type landscapes I see in my mind's eye were absent from my physical paintings
and I had to invent a way to interpret these textures." Drawing again upon his
working
background, he builds rather than paints an underlying texture using materials most
commonly
found on a construction site.

Vincent Marenghi
Vincent
Marenghi's monochromatic and duo-tone acrylic on canvas paintings earned him the title "Pollack
minus palette." A critic said of his works, "These abstract paintings portray the
innocent perspective and sense of awe one feels when viewing the world through a microscope
. . . or a telescope. His work represents the grand design of an entire galaxy or perhaps the
intricacies of a fingerprint."
These
images, which Vincent sees in his mind's eye, are best described as celestial images. Asked
when he started seeing these images, he replies, "I always thought everyone had pictures
exploding in their head." Vincent only learned as an adult that he was dyslexic and so,
to overcome the challenges that presented, he created his own "inner space."
Vincent
has a unique voice and a unique vision. His work invites the viewer in. At first glance, a
piece is deceptively simple. But as the viewer becomes absorbed by it, they realize it is as
'simple' as the universe itself.
